There is certainly more to this lady than her larger than life personality, infectious ambition and creative flair! Having started out in hairdressing as a teenager, it was not until 1997 that her career exploded. Together with husband, male grooming luminary Jason Shankey, they pioneered the men’s grooming salon genre with the launch of the Jason Shankey Belfast salon and since then she has never looked back…
Today Brenda is a regular voice on BBC Northern Ireland as well as contributing grooming expertise within her regular column in many Newspapers and magazines. She presents many mindfulness and business masterclasses in many live stage show at venues around Northern Ireland and was also recently a judge at the 2009 Belfast Telegraph Women of the Year awards.
Her talents don’t stop there as Brenda is also a Save the Children Ambassador for child poverty in Northern Ireland. She has made an outstanding contribution to the charity raising their awareness considerably through hard work and dedication. Her efforts include completing the New York marathon in 2008 and the organisation of an award winning charity ball, raising a grand total of f50,OOO for the cause. A culmination of her work came in 2009 when she was given a Save the Children, Outstanding Contribution to Children Award presented by Princess Anne.
