The Role of the 1st Aider for Mental Health
A First Aider for Mental Health in the workplace is the person to go to if anyone who is going through some form of mental health issue. Their role is to help guide the person in distress to the relevant help that they need. Their job is to be able to use their knowledge and experience to spot someone who is developing a mental health issue. They will, therefore, be able to intervene before it escalates.
It is important to remember that being a first aider for mental health, they are there to support an individual and it doesn’t qualify anyone as a therapist. Instead they are there to non-judgmentally support an individual; and to encourage them to access the professional support that is available.
